What makes a fulfilling career? For Amanda Costa, it’s the opportunity to travel around the province supporting vibrant communities, working with innovative clients and planning funding announcements.

As a Senior Communications Advisor, Amanda is on the front lines of PacifiCan,  engaging with British Columbians from Vancouver Island to the Rockies. She is always elevating the bar as a mentor for all members of her team, while also supporting economic development in British Columbia. 

How did you arrive at PacifiCan?

I started at WD/PacifiCan in 2013 on an assignment from another federal department, but I liked it so much I didn’t want to go back! I really enjoyed working with my incredibly talented team and traveling around the province to highlight how we’re supporting vibrant communities and a robust economy for British Columbians. 

What do you do in a typical day?

I fill my days planning funding announcements, helping colleagues with their projects, working on new initiatives, and responding to media enquiries. The coolest initiative I worked on this year was developing the new visual identity for PacifiCan. It was a lot of work, but I’m really proud of the final result.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

I absolutely love working with our clients, especially innovative businesses that are finding local solutions to global challenges, like using compostable materials to create cell phone cases. There is so much talent in our province! 

What is your favourite experience at PacifiCan?
Traveling to Prince Rupert this summer to support a trip with the Minister. The weather was gorgeous, plus the people and community really charmed me!
