People of PacifiCan: Hippolyte Gallot

Headshot image of Hippolyte Gallot, Programs Officer. His quote leads: "The ability to work as part of an organization that has a direct impact on the province’s citizens, its communities, businesses and organizations is an attracting factor to me."

Meet Hippo. As one of PacifiCan’s Program Officers, he enjoys skiing, backpacking and cycling in British Columbia’s backyard as much as he can!

How did you arrive at PacifiCan?

I joined PacifiCan after spending two years at Natural Resources Canada’s formerly named Indigenous Partnerships Office. I initially applied for a Business Officer position in the Programs branch and qualified into a pool. Shortly after,
I was contacted to join the Performance Improvement and Planning Team to work on performance data and corporate reporting.

What interested you about PacifiCan?

What interests me the most about PacifiCan is its involvement in British Columbia’s economy, particularly to support its growth and diversification. The ability to work as part of an organization that has a direct impact on the province’s citizens, its communities, businesses and organizations is an attracting factor to me. Furthermore, the Agency is a tight-knit organization which means that I also get to collaborate and get to know a lot of colleagues in different teams.

What do you do in a typical day?

Each day on the Performance team is different, some days I work on data requests, some days I work on drafting performance reports, others I work on internal tools and research to help our analysis. The ever-changing workload keeps my days both interesting and challenging.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

The most rewarding part of my work is knowing that I get to contribute to economic development and relief opportunities for British Columbians, knowing I contribute to a positive impact in the people around me is fulfilling and rewarding. Additionally, I get to solve different puzzles every day which require to think in innovative ways.
