People of PacifiCan: Marie-Chantale Wall

Meet Marie-Chantale.
Though her days are filled with supporting projects that strengthen the economy as a PacifiCan Business Officer, this royal conservatory-trained singer is busy preparing for her first open mic night.
How did you arrive at PacifiCan?
I started with PacifiCan’s predecessor, Western Economic Diversification, nine years ago as an administrative assistant. I quickly worked my way up to Executive Assistant for our Assistant Deputy Minister and learned all about the Agency and its inner workings from a bird’s eye view. Over the last few years, I had an opportunity to co-lead PacifiCan’s newly formed Corporate Secretariat for one year and now I am back in my Business Officer role for the past two years.
What interested you about PacifiCan?
When I joined I was looking for an opportunity within the public service that could allow me to grow into my talents while finishing my Bachelor’s degree. What I found was not only an incredible workplace but some of the most incredible and inspiring people I had ever met. That novelty still hasn’t worn off 9 years later. I appreciate the opportunity to grow my skills and work for an agency that believes in its people.
What do you do in a typical day?
As a Business Officer, my days are varied depending on the files and programs I am working on. I can go from developing, assessing, or writing project recommendations and briefing notes to processing progress/final reports on the monitoring side or taking inquiries from interested applicants.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
What I find most rewarding is being able to see the impact we have on British Columbians through the delivery of our programs. I love to see how broad our reach is and to understand the impact we are actually having on the communities that we all live, work and play in.

Favourite project or experience at PacifiCan
I am as passionate about my work as I am about the incredible people I work with.
