How did you arrive at PacifiCan?

I arrived at PacifiCan through my school's co-op program. I was somewhere around the 4th year of my Computer Science degree at Simon Fraser University when I applied.

Can you speak to your experience through student bridging and post-graduation hiring?

My experience being bridged over to PacifiCan post-grad was honestly quite smooth, all things considered. There was a small blip in my transition where I was in a kind of limbo while the bridging process. This could have been a stress filled process, but the PacifiCan team made this completely stress free. The biggest worry for me during this time was knowing that I left my fellow IT techs to deal with a load of work in my absence.

What interested you about PacifiCan?

I enjoyed the thought of doing some IT work instead of programming all the time, and the culture seemed good, from what little I could tell. The culture here is awesome, the opportunities for projects are endless, but most importantly, everyone is kind and considerate. It's just simply a great place to work!

What do you do in a typical day?

A typical day for me consists of mostly spur of the moment requests for bugs or glitches that crop up from time to time. Because of this, some days there will be lots of time between critical tasks, while others there isn't nearly enough time in the day! Because of the lulls, I've taken on several less critical tasks that help fill my empty cycles and keep me busy at work.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

The thing I find most rewarding about my work is being able to fix peoples myriad problems as they come up. Sometimes these issues are routine and common, other times they are wild one-off issues that no one in our department has seen before. Researching these issues and finding solutions to them is fun.
