Business Scale-up and Productivity in British Columbia - Who can apply

2. Who can apply
Applicants
You may be eligible to apply for the Business Scale-up and Productivity (BSP) program if your business:
- is high-growth and incorporated in Canada
- is scaling and producing innovative goods, services or technologies
- has been operating in Canada for at least 2 years
- operates staffed facilities in B.C.
- has secured at least 50% of project funding from non-government sources
Projects
Priority consideration may be given to projects that seek to diversify export markets and respond to supply chain challenges.
Projects can have a maximum duration of 3 years. The strongest projects will:
- clearly align with at least 1 priority area
- achieve significant economic outcomes
- clearly define the market size and show business potential
- demonstrate financial capacity to execute the project and repay funding
- demonstrate management capability to carry out the project
- support growth through one or more BSP program objectives
Priority areas
Preference may be given to projects that focus on one or more of the following:
- Export orientation: entering new markets or increasing market share abroad
- Advanced manufacturing: using innovative technologies to enhance products and processes
- Clean resources: transitioning to a low-carbon economy in energy, mining and forestry
- Clean technology: creating products or services that reduce environmental impacts
- Digital industries: using information and communication technology (ICT) and media for innovative information solutions
- Health and bio-sciences: advancing pharmaceuticals, medical devices and digital health solutions
- Natural resources processing: adding value to energy, mineral or forestry products
- Ocean technology: developing marine technologies and renewable energy systems
- Value-added agriculture: innovating to improve agriculture, fisheries and food processing
Expected results
We aim to support projects that have a viable plan to produce strong economic outcomes. Applicants must quantify, substantiate and later report on:
- how many high-quality personnel (HQP) jobs you created in Canada
- how many non-HQP jobs you created in Canada
- your revenue growth
- your export sales growth
- your business sales growth resulting from commercialization (where applicable)
