Message from the Clerk to all public servants: Twenty-Fourth Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada

Statements

I am pleased to announce that my Twenty-Fourth Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada has been tabled in Parliament, and is now available online at www.canada.ca/clerk-report.

The report outlines the successes and challenges the Public Service faced in the last year.  It also sets out the priorities we will need to address together throughout this next year. Two annexes are included in the report: a demographic profile of the Public Service and a Public Service Renewal Results Plan. I encourage you to read and discuss the report within your organizations, and follow highlights on Twitter using #ClerkReport.

I invite you to discuss this report directly with me on May 15th at an event being hosted by the Canada School of Public Service. I encourage you to register for this candid armchair discussion. You can submit your questions through Facebook or Twitter. You can also get some colleagues together and participate as a group by webcast.

This year’s report also celebrates the 150th anniversary of Canada and of the Federal Public Service. Since 1867, Canada’s Public Service has served Canadians and their governments with professionalism and has helped shape this country. I am extremely proud of the work we have done together in the last year to continue this great tradition, and I am confident that we will continue our outstanding service to Canadians in the year ahead.

 Sincerely,

Michael Wernick

Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet
