How many cases are there of blastomycosis in Canada?

The true incidence of blastomycosis is not known, as it is not reportable nationally in Canada. However, some provinces do report on the disease.

The annual incidence rate of blastomycosis is 0.62 cases per 100,000 people in the Canadian provinces of:

  • Ontario
  • Quebec
  • Manitoba
  • Saskatchewan

In areas of endemicity, the annual incidence of blastomycosis requiring hospitalization is 3 to 6 cases per million persons.
