List of upper receivers: for individuals

The following upper receivers were classified as prohibited devices under the Criminal Code in May 2020.

Upper receivers are not eligible for compensation for individual firearm owners under the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program (ASFCP). Owners who participate in the program may choose to include them in their claim and turn them in during the collection process, but will not receive compensation.

Participation in the program is voluntary, however individual firearm owners must dispose of or permanently deactivate their assault-style firearms by the end of the amnesty period or risk criminal liability for the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm.

Any items turned in that are not eligible will be destroyed without compensation. This includes ineligible firearms, upper receivers or items that are not included under the program for individuals such as parts and components.

The program for individuals will begin later this fall. Owners will be notified when it begins.

More information on how to participate will be provided at a later date.
