Progress update of the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program

The Government of Canada is taking action to make our communities safer, vibrant, and more inclusive by taking assault-style firearms off our streets and compensating owners and businesses.

Eligible firearms businesses across Canada can submit a claim to receive fair compensation for their prohibited firearms, devices and eligible parts and components. The deadline for submitting their claims is April 30, 2025. The program is not yet available for individuals. More information on how individuals can participate will be available in 2025.

As of April 30, 2025, businesses have claimed 12,195 prohibited firearms.
