Official Languages in the Appointment Process

In making a decision on official languages in the appointment process, deputy heads may want to consider that:

  • When assessing candidates, the level of second language proficiency of each selection board member should be based on the nature of the position, as well as on the complexity of interactions and communications required with the candidates.
  • The area of selection should provide a sufficient number of eligible persons from both official language communities taking into account the nature and location of the position, the clients served and the institution's linguistic obligations.
