News Release

November 17, 2017 - Sherbrooke, Quebec - Public Services and Procurement Canada

Through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, the Government of Canada is committed to growing the economy and strengthening the middle class, as well as helping those working hard to join it.

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, on behalf of the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing in an innovative security solution to detect the presence of suspicious powders, liquids and substances in mail.

RaySecur International Inc. received a $526,003 contract for its cutting-edge MailSecur Device. The MailSecur Device is a real-time 360-degree imaging system (similar to a CT scan).  It has a transportable and light-weight design and is more efficient and accurate than traditional X-ray or handheld inspection methods. The innovation is being tested at the Canada Border Services Agency, Global Affairs Canada and Correctional Service Canada.

This investment was made through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, which helps Canadian innovators land their first sale and have their innovations tested by the Government of Canada. This program is just one of the many ways the Government of Canada supports innovation and small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.

Canadian innovators can submit their proposals on the Build in Canada Innovation Program website.
