August 7, 2018 - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia - Public Services and Procurement Canada

Under the Oceans Protection Plan, the Government of Canada is committed to providing the women and men of the Canadian Coast Guard with the equipment they need to carry out their important work on behalf of Canadians.

Today, Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cove Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility, announced that DSS Marine Co., of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has been awarded a $3,792,876 contract to provide 11 boom high-speed sweep systems to the Canadian Coast Guard. The contract includes an option to purchase 60 additional units.

The Canadian Coast Guard uses boom high-speed sweep systems to gather oil slicks into a concentrated area, where skimmers and pumps can work more efficiently to remove it from the water. These systems will help to improve response times in the event of an oil spill.
