Account Information Retrieval service
Account Information Retrieval (AIR) service is a secure Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) service that uses technology in certified products to simplify the users experience. This service allows individuals, businesses and their authorized representatives using CRA certified products to automatically obtain basic account data (that the CRA has available at the time) such as balance owing.
The AIR service will efficiently and securely deliver CRA account data to third party products that have been certified by CRA. Making it faster and easier for users to make a payment.
This service was available in February 2020 which allowed retrieval of individual account balances using social insurance numbers. The retrieval of business account balances will be available beginning in October 2020.
How do I use Account Information Retrieval service?
Individuals and Businesses
To use the Account Information Retrieval (AIR) service, you must:
- be registered for My Account or My Business Account
- use a CRA certified AIR service product.
When you are ready to use the AIR service, your software will prompt you to enter your CRA My Account/My Business Account user ID and password. Once login is successful, follow the steps provided in the software you are using.
Authorized representatives
To use the Account Information Retrieval (AIR) service, you must:
- register in Represent a Client and have a RepID, GroupID, or business number
- make sure you have a valid representative authorization, with level 1 (or higher) authorization, for online access, on file with the CRA
- use a CRA certified AIR service product. The software will prompt you to login to your CRA account. Once login is successful, follow the steps provided in the software you are using.
Note
The AIR service will be available upon request in CRA certified AIR service products. This service will be updated on a regular basis with new elements that will be available. If you have questions about your certified software product, contact the software product company directly.
What information does Account Information Retrieval service deliver?
The Account Information Retrieval service will deliver all of the information listed below that is available at the time of the request. However, if the information is not available, it is possible that the CRA has not yet received it. If that is the case, please try the service again later.
