Promoting gender equality
Women have a unique perspective of the impacts of climate change in their communities, and play a crucial role in advancing climate action. Canada’s priority is to adopt a gender action plan that supports women’s participation in negotiations and strengthens gender-responsive policy development under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Gender Talanoa
Minister McKenna joined Mary Robinson and Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama in a Gender Talanoa - listening and learning event. Representatives from Indigenous organizations and women’s groups shared their experiences and actions on climate change.
