July 26, 2017 – Ottawa, ON – Shared Services Canada

Shared Services Canada (SSC) is committed to supporting the modernization of the Government of Canada’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Anita Vandenbeld, Member of Parliament for Ottawa West – Nepean, on behalf of the Honourable Jim Carr, acting Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada with responsibility for SSC, and Minister of Natural Resources Canada, today announced the award of three contracts totalling $13.2 million to MetOcean Telematics and Track24 Canada Ltd. to provide the Government of Canada with mobile satellite telecommunications equipment and services that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Shared Services Canada’s contract with these small- and medium-sized enterprises will create middle-class jobs and provide departments with access to Iridium Satellite telecommunications services and equipment.

The Iridium Satellite Services complement Shared Services Canada’s ability to provide worldwide mobile connectivity services, including coverage of the North and South poles. With these new contracts in place, public servants working abroad or in remote locations will have better telecommunications services, in turn allowing federal departments to better serve Canadians.
