The Government of Canada is committed to modernizing its information technology to ensure federal workers have the tools they need to deliver the digital services Canadians expect.

Today, the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Minister responsible for Shared Services Canada (SSC), announced the award of cellular services and mobile devices contracts of up to $432.1 million over six years to Bell Mobility and Rogers Communications Inc. The new contracts will provide flexible service plans and improved rates.

SSC is ensuring the ongoing provision of voice, text and data services to approximately 230,000 cellular devices currently used by employees in more than 100 departments and agencies. With these new contracts in place, public servants will continue to have access to modern, secure, and reliable technology.

The new contracts will offer more flexible service plans including unlimited national long-distance calls, lower international roaming rates based on location and data usage, and free voice-to-mail text messaging services. Additionally, a new flexible data plan will automatically adjust based on usage to help avoid any unexpected charges.
