Minister Brison Statement on the 2018 Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada

The Honourable Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board, today made the following statement:

“We thank the Auditor General for his reports. His insights will help the Government of Canada deliver on our plan to support the middle class and people working hard to join it.

“We have accepted all 35 recommendations in the reports and, in many instances, have already begun to take action. For example, we are working to ensure long-term solutions for defence capability, to instill a culture of trust and respect in the Canadian Armed Forces, and to expand participation in the digital economy by delivering internet access to rural and remote regions.

“These efforts include key investments in a number of areas, including the $1.8 billion over ten years to protect Canadians at our embassies abroad, and dedicated funding to improve Internet connectivity in more than 900 rural and remote communities.

“Guided by the recommendations of the Auditor General, we will continue to ensure the delivery of services and programs to Canadians is done in a way that is fiscally prudent, efficient and effective.”
