Use of Marriage Leave Codes

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide guidance to Departments regarding the application of the Marriage Leave codes in the Leave Reporting System (LRS).

We currently have two (revised) LRS codes that are used to report Marriage Leave; one under Family-Related Leave and one (revised) under Other Paid Leave. The following outlines the distinctions and purpose of each code.

Family-Related Leave

Code 450 - Marriage

This code applies to:

  • Ships’ Officers (SO) group (per sub-paragraph 23.18(b)(iv)); and
  • Ship Repair (SR-C) group (per clause 13.13).

Other Paid Leave

Code 520 - Marriage

  • This code applies to the Correctional Services (CX) Group only (paragraph 30.01(a)).

For all other bargaining units, Marriage Leave was eliminated.
