Subject to the approval of the Treasury Board, to supplement other appropriations and to provide for miscellaneous, urgent or unforeseen expenditures not otherwise provided for, including grants and contributions not listed in the Estimates and the increase of the amount of grants listed in these, where those expenditures are within the legal mandate of a government organization, and authority to reuse any sums allotted and repaid to this appropriation from other appropriations.

Funding for the Inclusive Diversification and Economic Advancement in the North initiative

This allocation allowed the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency to provide timely payments for the grant entitled "Grants for the Inclusive Diversification and Economic Advancement in the North initiative". This funding will be used to provide urgent financial relief to Northern businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission

Funding for critical operating requirements

The Treasury Board authorized an allocation of up to $25,989,867 to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to address immediate operational challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and help offset revenue shortfalls caused by the reduction of broadcasting licensing fees. These fee reductions will provide financial relief to Canadian broadcasters facing significant declines in advertising revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding for delivery of emergency response measures to Canadians

This allocation allowed the Department for Women and Gender Equality to provide additional support to women’s shelters and sexual assault centres significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding for emergency research and innovation response measures

This allocation allowed the National Research Council of Canada to provide timely payments of $15,000,000 for the grant entitled "Grant under the Innovative Solutions Canada program" and $5,000,000 for the grant entitled "Grant under the Collaborative Science, Technology and Innovation Program". This funding will help accelerate the development of domestically produced diagnostic testing tools and personal protective equipment.
