Department of Citizenship and Immigration

Funding for the Interim Housing Assistance Program (Budget 2023)

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $50,000,000 to the Department of Citizenship and Immigration to make payments to provinces and municipalities under the “Grant for the Interim Housing Assistance Program”. The funding is used to provide financial supports to other levels of government to address extraordinary interim housing pressure resulting from increased volumes of asylum claimants entering Canada.

Funding for military aid to Ukraine

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $190,000,000 to the Department of National Defence to make contributions to eligible organizations for the purpose of purchasing and donating lethal and non-lethal aid to Ukraine.

The National Battlefields Commission

Funding for critical operating requirements (Budget 2023)

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $3,998,000 to the National Battlefields Commission to undertake consolidation work on the cliffs of the Plains of Abraham in the summer 2023. This remedial work is urgently required in order to ensure the safety of visitors to the Battlefields.
