Programs we offer
The Comptrollership Community Development Office offers programs to help you build skills, develop leadership and grow your career in the Government of Canada. Whether you’re new to internal audit or preparing for an executive role, our programs offer hands-on experience, mentorship and professional development tailored to your career stage.
Our programs are exclusively available to Government of Canada employees.
Internal Audit Recruitment and Development (IARD) Program Closed
Internal Audit Recruitment and Development (IARD) Program
The IARD program is currently under review. The program is not accepting applications at this time.
The IARD Program recruits entry-level internal audit roles. It offers a structured experience to help participants build careers in internal audit and risk management while pursuing a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
Eligibility
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Foreign degrees must be assessed for Canadian equivalency before the interview

Comptrollership Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
Comptrollership Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
The Comptrollership Leadership Development Program (CLDP) prepares CT-IAU-04 (or equivalent) or EX-01 employees for dynamic and complex work environments. Participants who complete the 8-month program earn a Certificate of Professional Development from the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute.
Program activities include:
- practical work assignments
- self-assessments and 360º feedback
- interactive workshops
- action learning circles
- individual coaching
Eligibility
Open to CT-IAU-04 (or equivalent), and EX-01 level employees.
Duration
25 to 30 days over an eight-month period

Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) provides internal auditors with tools, training and resources to manage current and emerging risks. Support for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is also available on their website.
Canada School of Public Service (CSPS)
Canada School of Public Service (CSPS)
The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) offers training to public servants throughout their careers to help them serve Canadians effectively, including specialized learning products related to internal audit, such as A Tour of Internal Auditing (COR205). This self-paced online course offers a comprehensive overview of the internal audit process and highlights how internal auditors contribute value to their organizations.
Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO-ACAF)
Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO-ACAF)
The Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO-ACAF) offers learning opportunities for public sector finance and internal audit professionals, including the Joint Career Development Program (JCDP). The JCDP provides training opportunities to members covered by the CT collective agreement. Co-managed by ACFO-ACAF and the Office of the Comptroller General, the program supports professional development across the Government of Canada.
