Notice to employees of the core public administration regarding the Treasury Board Secretariat application to the Pay Equity Commissioner for the authorization of multiple pay equity plans

Following the pay equity consultation with workforce parties that took place in March and early April 2022, the Treasury Board Secretariat, on behalf of Treasury Board as the employer, applied to the federal Pay Equity Commissioner in June 2022 to establish 3 separate pay equity plans for the core public administration. On June 22, 2023, the Pay Equity Commissioner rendered the decision to deny the application. This means that the Treasury Board Secretariat will be moving forward to develop 1 pay equity plan.

TBS respects the Commissioner’s ruling and is working to develop and implement a pay equity plan for the CPA as required by the Pay Equity Act.

This initiative is among the many steps the Government of Canada is taking to create a more inclusive federal public service and ensure that all Canadians can be full participants in the economic, social and democratic life of our country.
