Impact Assessment Roster

The Impact Assessment Roster is a group of experts who may serve on independent review panels. The Minister of the Environment, Climate Change, and Nature (the Minister) appoints members to the roster. They are chosen for their knowledge, expertise, or experience in the following areas:

Some members may also work on integrated assessments. These are conducted jointly with lifecycle regulators such as the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) or the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC).

The guide “Impact Assessments led by a Review Panel: A Guide for Review Panel Chairpersons and Members” provides an overview of roles and responsibilities for current and potential review panel members under the Impact Assessment Act and serves as a practical reference to help them fulfill their mandate.

CER and CNSC Roster for Impact Assessments

For integrated assessments with the CER or the CNSC, the review panel must include either an eligible commissioner from the CER or an eligible member of the CNSC.

To form these panels, the Minister consults with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources to select qualified individuals. Selection is based on their knowledge or experience related to a project’s potential impacts or knowledge of Indigenous peoples’ interests and concerns.
