Submit your audio recording and documents

The first step in applying to be a military musician is to submit your audio recording and supporting documents.

Preparing your submission

Your audio recording must show your current musical skill level and capabilities. The recording should include the following factors:

Audio recording repertoire

  • select and record mandatory selections as prescribed for each instrument
  • each selection must be recorded in one take

Audio recording and technical requirements

  • submit your recording in a digital format, specifically as an MP3 file
  • your audio recording must be clearly audible and of good quality
  • to ensure your privacy, do not speak on the recording
  • your audio recording must be free of digital processing except for format processing

Documents to include with your submission

  • complete résumé including musical education, work history and accomplishments
  • a signed letter of authenticity by a person of position such as a music teacher or musical director verifying that your audio recording is a true representation of your playing
  • if you already serve in the military provide an updated copy of your Military Personnel Record Resume

How to submit your audio recording and documents

  • Submit your name, instrument and contact info below. A staff member will then contact you with details on how to submit your documents and recording.

  • contact the Director of Music / Senior Pipe Band Musician of your chosen band

We will contact you with your results

The music selection board will assess your submission. When the assessment is completed, you will be informed whether or not you are selected to participate in a live audition.
