3 Canadian Space Division
3 Canadian Space Division (3 CSD) delivers space power effects in support of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) operations. It reports to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), which is the authority for the Department of National Defence (DND) / CAF Joint and Combined Space Program.

About 3 CSD
3 CSD is located in Ottawa, Ontario. The Commander of 3 CSD also serves as Joint Force Space Component Commander, and is responsible for:
- space domain awareness
- space-based support of military operations at home and abroad
- defending and protecting military space capabilities in collaboration with allies and partners
- other space objectives outlined in Our North, Strong and Free: A Renewed Vision for Canada’s Defence
3 CSD’s four prioritized mission areas are:
- satellite communication and navigation
- space domain awareness
- space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
- space control
3 CSD includes the Advanced Space Effects Flight that works with national and international space allies and partners to identify space capability gaps as well as disruptive innovation opportunities and risks. It also identifies options to sustain mission assurance as well as resiliency and strategic, operational, and tactical space domain advantage.
