Sackville bakery gets investment to boost production

Atlantic Canada’s food industry is one of the region’s largest economic engines, exporting billions of dollars’ worth of products every year. Connecting food and beverage businesses with the tools they need to grow their global export opportunities will strengthen the food sector, creating jobs and positioning Atlantic Canada for a strong economic recovery.  

New Brunswick company using technology to grow its business

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, together with the Honourable Arlene Dunn, Minister of Economic Development and Small Business and Minister responsible for Opportunities NB, today announced a joint investment of $180,000 to Kookie Kutter Bakery (2019) Inc. to purchase advanced manufacturing equipment. Minister LeBlanc made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.

The new machinery, which includes cutting machines and ovens, will improve the company’s production capacity and efficiencies, boosting its domestic and international sales and creating up to eight new jobs over five years.

Today’s announcement demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to support the Canadian food and beverage industry. Investments like this one will help ensure there are food sector jobs for Canadians to go back to when the country recovers from the pandemic.

  • The Government of Canada is providing a repayable contribution of $150,000 to Kookie Kutter Bakery (2019) Inc., while the Province of New Brunswick is investing $30,000 towards the project.
