Rules — Messages to Team Canada — Milano Cortina 2026
- For all messages to be submitted, you must provide your first name only. When submitting a message to Canadian Heritage, you agree that your first name and your comment may be shared with the athlete or athletes to whom your message is addressed, and may be made public. For more information on how your personal information will be handled, please refer to our personal information collection statement.
- All messages received will be subject to a non-random selection process, and the selection of any message is at the sole discretion of Canadian Heritage. Messages will be selected based on editorial criteria determined exclusively by Canadian Heritage, including relevance, respectful content, and the expression of support for Canadian athletes.
- By submitting a message, you agree to the selection process. We will not communicate with participants regarding the selection process or decisions made. Selected messages will be displayed and highlighted on a rotating basis on the Milano Cortina 2026 initiative page and may also be used on the Canadian Heritage website and/or its digital platforms, including social media.
- Messages must be civil and appropriate and must not be malicious or offensive. Profanity and blasphemy will not be accepted. Messages must not include references to the character of other individuals or attacks against a person based on race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic. Canadian Heritage reserves the right not to select and to remove messages that, in the opinion of Canadian Heritage, fall into any of the following categories:
- spam or messages containing links to other websites;
- messages that are deemed not relevant;
- messages that promote illegal activities;
- messages submitted for political purposes, or promoting political or labour organizations, or services or products;

- racist, sexist, or homophobic messages;
- impolite messages;
- threatening, violent, intimidating, or harassing messages;
- messages that do not comply with these rules.
- In the event of a high volume of submissions or highly similar content, it may not be possible to display all messages. In such cases, selection will aim to ensure diversity and representativeness of content.
- Messages do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of Canadian Heritage, the Government of Canada, or its representatives or employees.
- You are responsible for the content you write and submit. By submitting a message, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Canadian Heritage from any third-party claims, actions, or expenses (including legal fees on a solicitor–client basis) arising from its publication, including but not limited to violations of privacy rights or copyright, defamatory statements, or any other obscene, defamatory, seditious, blasphemous, or otherwise actionable statements you may make.
- Any threats directed at Canadian Heritage, its employees, other users, or the Government of Canada will be taken seriously and reported to the appropriate authorities.
