Royal Canadian Navy Monument

The Royal Canadian Navy Monument stands on Richmond Landing, in the heart of Ottawa. It represents the important role of those who have served, currently serve and will serve in the Royal Canadian Navy.

The monument reflects several facets of the Navy. The use of the naval colours (black, white and gold) creates an open space charged with meaning. At the heart of the monument site is a white form that evokes several symbols of the Navy, ranging from sails, to a ship’s design lines, to icebergs, to naval attire. The design also makes use of gold spheres, which represent the sun, moon and stars, as well as the global reach of the Royal Canadian Navy. The fouled anchor is made of black granite.
