Vaccines administered to inmates in the federal correctional system

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has implemented rigorous infection prevention and control measures at its sites. Vaccines provide an additional measure to limit the spread of the virus and is key to further protect everyone.

This chart outlines vaccines administrated to federal inmates from January 6, 2021 to November 28, 2021. As more vaccines are administered, CSC will provide further updates to this table. CSC has offered the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to offenders.

Notes:

  1. At least one dose coverage is the percent of the indicated population with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This category is reflective of those who are either partially or fully vaccinated.
  2. Fully vaccinated coverage is the percent of the indicated population with both COVID-19 vaccine doses. Inmates with single dose vaccinations (e.g., Janssen) are also considered fully vaccinated.
  3. Total doses administered includes only doses administered by CSC.
  4. CSC has a dynamic population with new admissions, releases, and transfers occuring on a regular basis. Coverage will vary as inmates move in, out of, and within the inmate population.
  5. Categories are not mutually exclusive and may not add to 100%.
  6. First dose refused, second dose refused, and most recent dose refused reflect the percent of refusals in that category out of the entire indicated population.
  7. Not documented refers to offenders who do not have a vaccine or refusal documented in OHIS-EMR.
