Community security
Correctional Service Canada (CSC)'s work is not complete when an offender is released back into the community. In fact, CSC manages Community Correctional Centres and parole offices across Canada. CSC also has contracts with various non-government agencies that run Community Residential Facilities.
Community Correctional Centres
Community Correctional Centres are operated by CSC. They offer a structured living environment with 24-hour supervision. They are a bridge between the institution and the community. This gradual, supervised release process is a key part of an offender's rehabilitation.
Commissioner's Directives
Community Correctional Centres are classified as minimum security institutions. However, the environment is less restrictive. Offenders have the chance to take even more responsibility for their actions.
