Respectful Workplace Campaign
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is determined to take the necessary steps to ensure staff have a positive work environment that is worthy of their dedication and professionalism. In response to the Public Service Employee Surveys and some allegations of staff misconduct across the country, CSC developed a respectful workplace campaign. This campaign runs annually and began in 2018.
The campaign highlights various tools and tips that can help both employees and managers create and maintain a respectful workplace. It also provides information on how to deal with misconduct and promotes the CSC tip line which can be used as an additional mechanism to report any concerns related to:
- workplace misconduct
- bullying
- harassment or
- discrimination.
Every year since the campaign was launched, CSC celebrates its Respect Day on November 20, which is another opportunity to remember the importance of committing, individually and as an organization, to making the workplace a healthy environment where people want to come to work each day.
Other events such as Bell Let’s Talk Day and Pink Shirt Day are also highlighted each year as part of the campaign to encourage discussion around respect, wellbeing and mental health.
2021 campaign
The 2021 campaign theme was Everyone deserves respect.
To respect others, regardless of your differences, is to pay attention to how they may feel, to have consideration for them, and to accept your differences.
