MOSID 00101 - Search and Rescue Technician (SAR TECH)

General Duties:

SAR TECH shall perform duties related to search and rescue operations by:

1. Conduct parachute operations day or night over water and all types of terrain. X X X X X

5. Dispatch SAR equipment from low flying aircraft (A/C) while working around open doors or ramps. X X X X X
6. Conduct mountain rescue operations by climbing rock or ice formations on foot with heavy packs. X X X X X
7. Wear personal survival equipment of 12 Kg while airborne, 12 hours per day. X X X
8. Load equipment weighing up to 40 Kg onto A/C lifting 1.5 m from ground to A/C. X X X X X
9. Respond to in-flight emergencies including fire fighting. X X X X X
10. Remainhighly alert for up to 20 hour per day. X X X X X
11. Endure up to 8 hours of low level flying in bad weather conducting search ops. X X X X X
12. Endure emotional stress of conducting triage in mass casualty situations and when handling human remains. X X X X X
13. Endure immersion in cold water when rescuing victims (includes swimming to, harnessing and being hoisted to a helicopter with the victim). X X X X X
