MOSID 00339 - Combat Engineer (CBT ENGR)

General Duties:

CBT ENGR: are combat troops working as members of the combat team.

  • They construct field accommodation, runways, bridges and roads.
  • They detect and dispose of land mines, booby traps and other explosives.
  • They operate and maintain engineering equipment and weapons.
  • They drive and operate Armoured Engineering Vehicles (AEV) and Standard Military Pattern (SMP) vehicles.

Tasks involve lifting and moving heavy, unwieldy objects and working in awkward positions. CBT ENGR work in the field environment in all weather.

MOSID Related Duties

1. Manually dig in 16kg mines for 8 hours without rest. X X

5. Bend, stoop and crawl under and climb on vehicles and equipment. X X X X

7. Cope with stress of working with or disposing of battlefield munitions including booby-traps. X X X
8. Exert a force of up to 45 kg by lifting or pulling a lever or wrench repeatedly for one hour. X X

10. Remain alert 16 hours a day under combat conditions. X X X X X X
11. Drive SMP & AEV in low/no light conditions. X X X
12. Work alone underwater (combat diver) with tools and explosives. X X X
13. Lie prone while breaching minefields for one hour. X X X
14. Use 20Kg thumpers to drive in pickets or CAMOFLET tubes for up to 3 hours. X X X
15. Climb on vehicles and equipment up to 3 m and jump down 1.75 m repeatedly. X X X X
16. Perform tasks by lying or hanging with upper body lower than hips for short periods. X X X

18. Work with arms raised above shoulder level while lying or standing for extended periods. X X X
