Join us in celebrating Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month 2024: A message from the Defence Team Mental Health Champions
October 1, 2024 - Defence Stories

A healthy workplace is about creating an environment where all dimensions of health are prioritized, supported, and nurtured.
As we celebrate Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, we invite you to reflect on the importance of well-being in our daily lives and think about the role that each of us plays in fostering an inclusive and healthy work environment.
Beginning October 7, Defence Team members can participate in a variety of activities and events related to developing healthy habits for the workplace. The following weekly themes will also highlight the multitude of Defence Team programs, initiatives, and services that are available to support you, as reflected in the Total Health and Wellness Strategy:
- Social Connectivity
- Healthy Sleep
- Positivity
- Resilient Workplaces
October also includes observances like Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6-12), World Mental Health Day (October 10), and International Conflict Resolution Day (October 17). Mental health is an essential component of workplace health, and we encourage you to take these opportunities to explore the Defence Team resources available to you.
Where can you get support?
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a professional, confidential, and proactive service to support public service employees and their family members with a wide range of personal, family, and work-related concerns.
Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members can access support through the Canadian Forces Member Assistance Program (CFMAP), as well as a range of other programs and services to support members and their families.
Let’s continue to build a workplace that is healthy, resilient, supportive, and thriving. Thank you for doing your part.
