Courses Offered

Presiding Officer Certification Training (POCT)
Presiding Officer Re-Certification Training (PORT)

The Presiding Officer Certification Training (POCT) and the Presiding Officer Re-Certification Training (PORT) are courses designed to train superior commanders, commanding officers and delegated officers in the administration of the Code of Service Discipline at the summary trial level. These courses cover the summary trial process from start to finish. They highlight key issues from the pre-investigation to the post-trial stage, certifying superior commanders, commanding officers and delegated officers to perform their duties in the administration of the Code of Service Discipline.

Intermediate Law of Armed Conflict (ILOAC)

The Intermediate Law of Armed Conflict course is designed for officers and senior non-commissioned members. It is taught annually across Canada as well as internationally through the Directorate of Military Training and Cooperation (DMTC). This course is also a mandatory prerequisite for legal officers prior to attending the Legal Officer Qualification course. This 4-day course is conducted on a residential basis and is designed to provide more comprehensive knowledge of international humanitarian law.

How to register for ILOAC

Enrolment is controlled by Canadian Forces Support Training Group (CFSTG) Borden. Members at the Sgt/PO2 rank and above who are interested in attending this course should request nomination in MITE (Military Individual Training and Education) through their chain of command or unit training coordinator. Unit/base/wing training coordinators must enter the requested session number under comments in MITE, or the member will not be loaded.
