Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Staff Officer

Competency Code: (AJIC)

Overview

The focus for the CSOC is the Operational Planning Process (OPP) and the CIMIC inputs required at each stage of the OPP.

Aim

The Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Staff Officer Course (CSOC) is designed to prepare Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Members (NCMs) to perform the duties of a CIMIC Staff Officer at an operational level Head Quarters.

Content

Because most of the candidates arrive with a lack of understanding of the OPP, there is an introduction to the various stages, followed by detailed lessons. The students will then be able to apply their skills during the syndicate exercises which are based upon CIMIC scenarios in an operational Head Quarters. All syndicate work is closely guided and monitored by our instructors to ensure that collaboration and cooperation within each syndicate allows for peer learning. The products and campaigns that students design and deliver are informed by current events around the world, recent operational history, and international best-practices. Syndicate level products are progressive and place an emphasis on the process and understanding rather than content.
