Direction on the Phase Out of the National Star of Excellence Program

  1. In response to the upcoming changes to the Corps/Squadron Program announced at references A, B and C, as well as the pause in the awarding of Cadet Fitness Assessment Incentive Program levels announced at reference D, the National Star of Excellence (NSE) program, outlined at reference E, will be phased out. Effective immediately, cadets will no longer be able to register to the NSE program.
  2. Cadets currently enrolled in the NSE program, who are at minimum Gold Star qualified, will be allowed to continue working toward the completion of their NSE levels. As a result of reference D, cadets will no longer be awarded NSE points for physical fitness levels or the Colonel Robert Perron Award.
  3. NSE points will no longer be used as a metric for selection for any activity or appointment which are scheduled to begin after 1 September 2023.
