  1. The purpose of this CANCDTGEN is to remind all Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) personnel that CAF members are entitled to undertake Individual Training and Education (IT&E) in the official language of their choice. Civilian Instructors (CIs) authorized to participate in CJCR Gp adult IT&E activities shall be afforded the opportunity to receive training in the official language of their choice, subject to course availability and individual qualification requirements.
  2. Members are to ensure that their preferred language of instruction is indicated in the appropriate field when submitting their application for training using the Virtual Orderly Room (VOR) application. Language selection for coursing is a personal choice. Members who choose to complete a course in their second official language are reminded that there is no obligation on the part of the training establishment to provide second‑language assistance. Instruction, assessments, and evaluations will be conducted in the language designated for the specific course session.
  3. The COATS National Training Establishment (NTE) will continue to provide course offerings in English, French, or bilingual formats as directed through annual schedules and students may apply for training in the official language of their choice. When multiple sessions are offered in the selected official language, course loading may be determined in a manner that supports fiscal stewardship and remains consistent with policies and directives. In all circumstances, the member’s preferred language of training shall take precedence over travel related considerations.
  4. Supervisors and training coordinators shall ensure that members are made aware of their official language rights and entitlements. All course scheduling, communications, and loading activities shall be conducted in full adherence to established official languages policies.
  5. Questions regarding language‑of‑instruction rights or the application of this CANCDTGEN may be directed to the CJCR Gp Official Languages Coordinator at CRJCLanguesOfficielles_CJCROfficialLanguages@forces.gc.ca or the COATS National Training Establishment at cjr-coatstraining-entrainementsaioc@forces.gc.ca.
