Commemorative Pins

1. Submissions and recommendations on commemorative pins including the wear of pins shall be formally presented to the CJCR CDC by the Regional CWOs through the chain of command. They are to be produced at no cost to the public to commemorate special occasions such as the anniversary of a corps / squadron / CTC or particular activities.

2. Commemorative pins can only be worn horizontal and centre on the left pocket of the jacket, halfway between the bottom of the pocket flap and the bottom of the pocket.

3. Corps / Squadron anniversary. The corps / squadron anniversary pins are worn for a 1-year period in which the anniversary is celebrated. They are not worn at the CTC; worn on jacket only.

4. CTC. CTC anniversary pins are worn for the summer period in which the anniversary is celebrated. Worn on the shirt or jacket.

5. Vimy Ridge Pin (Army Cadets). Every year from 1 April to 30 June, Army Cadets may wear the Vimy Ridge pin on their jacket and shirt. During the month of April, the Vimy Ridge Pin is given precedence over all other ceremonial pins.

6. Forget-Me-Not (Newfoundland and Labrador). Every year from 1 June to 1 July all cadets in Newfoundland and Labrador may wear the Forget-Me-Not pin. The Forget-Me-Not is worn in the same manner as the Poppy (see Chapter 4, Para 17; Figure 4A-1)

7. Other regional activities. The CJCR CDC may authorize the wear of pins for other worthy activities during the training year. These pins may only be worn between 1 September and 30 June on the jacket or on the shirt.

8. Only one authorized commemorative pin shall be worn at a time. If several pins are available for wear during a particular period of time, the decision to wear one pin over another is left to the RCSU CO.

9. Pins shall be no more than 2.5 cm high and no more than 2.5 cm wide.

10. New requests will be submitted 6 months prior to event. Submissions shall be sent to the RCSU RCWO in briefing note format with images attached. (Note: no financial commitment shall be made prior to design approval.)
