Annex A – Scale of punishments, sanctions and administrative measures and their impact on honours

For campaign and service medals – triggers automatic review of the case in accordance with the definition of “honourable service” and guidelines provided to that effect (Chapter 4, paragraph 67 to paragraph 97).

For the Canadian Forces' Decoration (CD) – one year forfeiture in addition to eight years' deferment (Chapter 9, Annex T).

    • Confinement to ship or barracks;
    • Extra work and drill;
    • Stoppage of leave; and
    • Caution.
  • Administrative measures, which are:
    • Counselling and Probation;
    • Recorded Warning; and
    • Verbal Warning.

Sanctions:

  • Deprivation of pay, and of any allowance prescribed in regulations made by the Governor in Council, for not more than 18 days.

    • confinement to ship or barracks for a period not exceeding 14 days;
    • extra work and drill for a period not exceeding 14 days; and
    • withholding annual leave, accumulated leave, special leave and short leave for a period not exceeding 30 days.

Administrative measures:

  • Counselling and Probation;
  • Recorded Warning; and
  • Initial Counselling.

Miscellaneous:

  • Caution.

No automatic impact on campaign and service medals or the CD.

The chain of command may still determine eligibility of the person based on the definition of “honourable service” and guidelines provided to that effect (Chapter 4, paragraph 67 to paragraph 97).
