Appendix 5 – Operational Service Medal (OSM) regulations - Sudan Ribbon

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 5 and subsection 13(1) of the Operational Service Medal Regulations,

  1. repeals Order in Council P.C. 2010-1096 of September 2, 2010;
  2. determines that service that satisfies the following conditions is recognized as being worthy of the award of the Operational Service Medal with the SUDAN ribbon:
    1. the service is performed:
      1. in Sudan; or
      2. outside Canada in direct support of operations conducted in Sudan; and
    2. the service consists of
      1. a minimum of 30 cumulative days during the period beginning on September 15, 2004 and ending on July 29, 2016;
      2. a minimum of 21 cumulative days beginning on July 30, 2016; or
      3. in the case where some of the days of service are referred to in clause (A) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause and other days of service are referred to in clause (B) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause, the sum of those days of service if that sum is at least 21 cumulative days;
  3. specifies that the SUDAN ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be 32 mm in width, consisting of a 22-mm dark green stripe in the middle, flanked by 2.5-mm white stripes and 2.5-mm red stripes; and
  4. determines that the Operational Service Medal with the SUDAN ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be worn after the Operational Service Medal with the HAITI ribbon.
