ESDC’s commitment

Since our 2015 Blueprint 2020 Progress Report, ESDC has put in place a number of actions and initiatives to support our employees and all Canadians.

There’s much more for us to do. Our employees across the country tell us that we need to continue to make employee engagement and empowerment a priority in order to live the Blueprint 2020 vision. There are many ways to do this including continuing to focus on mental health, civility and healthy workplaces, providing support to employees in all facets of their job (e.g. formal and informal learning opportunities, career progression), encouraging more horizontal engagement with other teams and networks, providing access to technology, and simplifying procedures and processes so everyone can work more efficiently.

In the months to come, ESDC will continue to encourage active participation in living, owning and sharing the principles of Blueprint 2020 throughout the organization.

Living the vision means, for example, engaging colleagues, building consensus in all aspects of project development, and reinforcing professional relationships to foster more collaboration and effectiveness.

Owning the vision means each of us working to make a difference: asking how we can improve our work and environment, simplify processes, and build a healthy workplace, with a focus on mental health.

Sharing the vision means, for example, we must be transparent, share our accomplishments so they can be adopted by others and ensure Blueprint 2020 values are part of our everyday work for everyone.

We will continue to build pride and foster a positive workplace that is respectful, supportive and committed to pursuing innovation and continuous improvement for the benefit of our people and for all Canadians.
