Backgrounder

Catherine Frenette – Québec, Quebec

Ms. Frenette currently works as a criminal and penal prosecutor with the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales. Her responsibilities include authorizing criminal dockets and making representations before the different levels of court. Ms. Frenette has a Bachelor of Laws from Université Laval and a Bachelor’s degree in sexology from the Université du Québec à Montréal. She is also a member of the Barreau du Québec.

Ms. Frenette will become a full-time member of the Employment Insurance section of the Tribunal’s General Division. Her appointment will come into effect March 6, 2017, for a term of three years.

Manon Sauvé – Prévost, Quebec

Ms. Sauvé has 13 years of experience as an administrative judge with the Commission québécoise des libérations conditionnelles. Ms. Sauvé also has 10 years of private practice and 7 years of experience in an executive position with a youth organization. Ms. Sauvé holds a licence to practice law from the École du Barreau de Montréal and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec for 25 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a Bachelor of Laws from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Ms. Sauvé will become a full-time member of the Employment Insurance section of the Tribunal’s General Division. Her appointment will come into effect March 6, 2017, for a term of four years.

Linda Bell – Victoria, British Columbia

Mrs. Bell has almost 20 years of experience working in both the federal government and the Government of British Columbia. She currently works as an arbitrator for the Residential Tenancy Branch of the Government of British Columbia. Her responsibilities include interpreting and applying legislation such as the Administrative Tribunals Act, common law, and contract law. Mrs. Bell has a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management.

Mrs. Bell will become a full-time member of the Employment Insurance section of the Tribunal’s General Division. Her appointment will come into effect on March 6, 2017, for a term of three years.
