September 6, 2018 Gatineau, Quebec Employment and Social Development Canada
Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between GCT Canada Limited Partnership, Vancouver, British Columbia and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 502:
“GCT Canada Limited Partnership and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 502 have reached a tentative collective agreement. The agreement was reached through negotiations between the parties with the assistance of mediators from our Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
Our government has always believed in a fair and balanced approach to labour relations. This agreement is further evidence that when employers, organized labour, and governments work together and respect the collective bargaining process, we get the best results for Canadians and for our economy.
We thank the parties for their commitment to the collective bargaining process.”
