About this program
The Black Canadian Communities Program (BCCP) provides funding for Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations and projects that respond to the needs and priorities of Black communities.
The BCCP builds on the progress achieved through the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative. It will fund projects that benefit Black children, youth, families and caregivers, while helping Black-led, Black-serving and Black-focused organizations access funding, strengthen their organizations and reach more people in their communities.
The Government of Canada is investing $135.7 million over five years, starting in 2026–2027, and $27.1 million annually thereafter.
Objectives and outcomes
The BCCP will be delivered by Black communities, for Black communities, to:
- improve outcomes for Black children, youth, families and caregivers, including by addressing systemic barriers and discrimination
- strengthen Black-led, Black-serving and Black-focused organizations by helping them build the skills, tools and resources they need to access funding, strengthen their organizations and remain sustainable over the long term, and
- respond to emerging priorities and needs identified by Black communities across Canada
Through these objectives, the BCCP aims to contribute to stronger Black communities and greater social and economic inclusion.
