How to access Employment Insurance services in MSCA

To access Employment Insurance (EI) services in My Service Canada Account (MSCA), you must register or sign in to MSCA.

Once registered or signed in, go to the “Employment Insurance” section on your dashboard.

Important : To apply for EI benefits, visit Employment Insurance benefits.

Register or Sign in to MSCA

How to check information about your claim

Once you've applied for EI benefits, you can check information about your claims in MSCA.

View your claim status and messages

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” and “View my status updates and messages” to check:

  • your EI claim status
  • details about your claim
  • messages you have received

Note: This information is only available once your claim is finalized.

View your latest claim

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my latest claim” to access information about your current claim for EI benefits, such as:

  • the start date
  • your benefit rate
  • the types of benefits
  • the number of weeks paid
View your past EI claims

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my past claim” to access information about your past EI claims, including payment information. Information about past claims remains available in MSCA for at least 7 years.

Register for Alert Me

We can notify you by email when new information about your EI claim is posted in MSCA.

To register for Alert Me notifications, on your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “Manage email notifications (Alert me).”

You won't receive more than one alert per 24-hour period.

You can unsubscribe by selecting “Manage my Alert Me profile” and “Unsubscribe from Alert Me.” You can subscribe again at any time.

Note: Subscribing or unsubscribing from Alert Me does not affect your MSCA security notifications.

Access your EI report and payment information

If you submit your reports online or by telephone, you can access your report details by selecting “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my payments” on your MSCA dashboard. If you submit paper reports, this service isn't available.

You can complete your reports online directly through the Internet Reporting Service.

Payment information is updated the next business day after your report is processed. Processing occurs each evening from Sunday to Thursday. If you file your report on Friday or Saturday, your payment information will appear on Monday.

Please note that holidays can affect the processing schedule.

View your letters

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my letters” to access and print some letters that we have mailed to you. Note that some letters you’ve received may not appear here.

Report mistakes and changes that could affect your EI benefits

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “Report a mistake” if you realize that:

  • you’ve made a mistake filling out your EI report or any other form submitted for your claim
  • there's a change in your circumstances that may affect your EI benefits

It's important that you notify us as soon as possible to avoid penalties or problems with your claim.

How to submit and access your documents online

Submit documents

You can use the secure upload tool to electronically submit supporting documents for your EI claim.

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “Submit documents” to launch the tool.

View my documents

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then "View my documents" for a list of documents that you've already submitted and the date they were submitted. If you wish, you can print a confirmation page showing this information.

Use eForms to send information for your claim

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then "Submit eForms" to launch the eForms service.

If you're receiving EI benefits, you can use eForms to provide us information about:

  • an absence from Canada
  • a course or training program that you're attending or will be attending in the next 28 days
  • other parents' information for parental benefits

If you wish, you can save a draft of your eForm and complete it later. It will be available for you to edit for 24 hours. You can only save one draft of each eForm at a time. You can also access and print eForms that you've submitted within the last 2 years.

Depending on your benefit type, certain eForms may not be displayed. If you're receiving maternity or caregiving benefits and need to provide information for your claim, you'll need to contact us.

How to access your records of employment

Access and print your records of employment (ROEs)

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my records of employment” to access and print your electronic ROEs. You can also verify information about your paper ROEs.

ROEs are available on MSCA for 7 years following the date they're issued.

How to update your personal information

Update your mailing address and telephone number Currently unavailable

This service is currently not available in MSCA, but there are other ways to update your personal information.

You must let us know of any changes to your mailing address or telephone number to prevent delays in receiving your benefits.

If you've moved to a new province, you must also update your province of residence.

Update your province or territory of residence

If you've moved to a new province or territory, you must update your profile with your new information to continue accessing your EI claim information online.

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “Update my personal information” and ”Province of residence.”

Update your direct deposit information Currently unavailable

This service is currently not available in MSCA, but there are other ways to update your direct deposit information.

Update your preferred language

You can change your language preference by selecting “Employment Insurance benefits” then “Update my personal information” and “Language of correspondence.”

Written communications will be sent to you in the language indicated on your file.

How to get your T4E tax slips in MSCA

Access, save and print your T4E slips

You can access, save and print your T4E slips in MSCA if you:

  • received EI benefits this year or in the last 6 years
  • repaid an EI overpayment from a previous tax year

To get your T4E slips in MSCA, on your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my tax slips.”

For any other tax slips (such as T3, T4, T4RIF, T4RSP, T5, T5007 or T5008), sign in to your CRA account or contact the Canada Revenue Agency.

Exceptions: T4E slips unavailable in MSCA

Your T4E slips will not be in MSCA if:

  • You have a negative benefit amount
    • If you were overpaid and the overpayment is greater than the total benefit amount paid during the tax year, your T4E slip will not be available in MSCA. It will be mailed to you.
  • You have a new Social Insurance Number (SIN)
    • If you recently obtained a new SIN, you will not be able to access any T4E slips issued under your previous SIN in MSCA. Contact us to request copies by mail.
Change the delivery option for your T4E slips

You can choose to receive your T4E slips by mail or online. To change your delivery option, on your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits,” then “Change my tax slips delivery options.”

If you chose to receive your T4E slips online:

  • they’ll be available in MSCA as early as February 1
  • you won't receive copies by mail
T4E slips delivery schedule

Electronic tax slips for the current tax year are available in MSCA as early as February 1 of each year.

Paper tax slips are mailed by the end of February of each year. Ensure that your mailing address is correct in MSCA before December 31 of the previous year.

Amended T4E slips

Your T4E tax slips may be amended after they're issued.

You can access, save, or print amended T4E slips in MSCA.

Accessing T4E slips on behalf of someone else

You can't access tax slips online services in MSCA if you're:

  • a registered trustee
  • a guardian
  • another legal representative taking care of a client's financial affairs

To complete transactions on another person's behalf, contact us.

EI program for self-employed people

Manage your agreement for self-employed people

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Employment Insurance benefits” then “View my agreement status (self-employed)” to:

  • enter into an agreement to participate in the EI program as a self-employed person
  • check the status of your agreement
  • withdraw from the program
Manage your compassionate care benefits for self-employed people

On your MSCA dashboard, select “Benefits for self-employed people: Compassionate care” and “Manage my self-employed compassionate care benefits” to:

  • start or resume an application
  • check the status of an application you submitted
  • complete your reports
  • access payment information
