“My role with ECCC is grounded in analytical thinking. It is motivating to see that the work I am doing helps to bring options and solutions to the table.”

Dr. Doris Fortin’s two greatest passions are science and the environment, and every day those two passions form the basis of her work. Ensuring that policy and decision-making are informed by science is essential to her role as Executive Director of Policy and Partnerships.

Over her 7 years with ECCC, Doris has remained committed to collaborative problem solving as a way to find the best possible solutions. Recently, she was part of a Canadian team who succeeded in bringing forward environmental sustainability considerations in the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization’s global basic observing network to support weather forecasting and early warning of hydro-meteorological hazards around the world.

Throughout her career, Doris has seen science acknowledged as a key input to policy and decision-making. This has continued to inspire her to make a difference through her work, with the ultimate goal of serving Canadians through sound and strategic policy and partnerships.
