Interim Plan 2001 on Particulate Matter and Ozone: chapter 7

7.0 Conclusion

The Government of Canada will act, through a mixture of regulations, economic instruments and voluntary measures, to meet its obligations under the Canada-wide Standards for Particulate Matter (PM) and Ozone and the Ozone Annex agreement, as well as its obligations to protect health and the environment for all Canadians through the provision of clean air. Many of the initiatives set out in this Interim Plan require partnerships with provinces, territories, industry, business, municipalities and organizations. Future progress reports will provide updates on the nature of these partnerships and our progress towards meeting Canada's commitments, nationally and internationally, to reduce emissions of PM and ozone.
