Trade in protected species: submitting a permit application form
This page will help you find the permit issuance office where you need to send your application forms. For further information or questions, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) permitting headquarters can be contacted.
Import permit application
Please send the application form to the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS).
Important
A CITES import permit is not required for species listed in Appendices II and III. An import permit is however required for species listed in WAPTR Schedule II.
Export permit application
Aquatic species
Please send the application form to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO).
Any Animal
Please send the application form to the responsible provincial or territorial department, where you are located. If your province or territory is not listed or the request is for the export of a species that is not indigenous to that province or territory, the application form must be submitted to the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS).
Canadian indigenous plants - wild in origin
Please send the application form to the responsible provincial or territorial department, where you are located. If your province or territory is not listed, the application form must be submitted to the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS).
Artificially propagated plants
Please send the application form to the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS).
Others
For any other CITES permitting need, the application form should be submitted to the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS).
