Management of toxic substances: forest products industry

After the U.S., Canada is the second largest exporter of primary forest products in the world.  The Canadian forest products sector is one of the top five contributors to the national balance of trade.  Canada is a net exporter of forest products.
The forest products industry includes the wood product, wood preservation and pulp and paper sectors. Harvested trees are used by mills to make many products such as construction materials, pulp, paper, and non-conventional products such as chemical and food additives. The residual woods can be a fibre source for other mills or an energy source to produce heat and electricity.
